Phew, it’s over. Despite an atrocious performance from quarterback Logan Thomas, the Virginia Tech Hokies were able to hang on against Marshall this afternoon. It took three overtimes – two of which saw no points after missed field goals and turnovers – for VT to claim the victory.
Thomas was finally able to break through in the third overtime, scoring on a 2-yard run. Marshall’s final possession ended on a well-thrown fade route from Rakeem Cato that freshman Davonte Allen couldn’t hang onto.
The Hokies move to 3-1 on the season – they’re on the road at Georgia Tech next week.
