For nearly three quarters last night, it looked like we were going to be in for a thriller between Clemson and NC State. Midway through the third quarter of play, NC State trailed the Tigers 13-7, when WR Bryan Underwood suddenly took a carry 83 yards for a score for the Wolfpack — game on. Except the side judge ruled that Underwood stepped out of bounds at the Clemson 47, taking away the score. The Tigers never looked back, and built a 26-7 lead.

Today, Doug Rhoads, the head of officiating for the ACC, addressed the play and stood by the call on the field:


While that’s a pretty fair explanation from the ACC, NC State fans probably still won’t be pleased.
