Last Thursday, North Carolina and South Carolina kicked off the college football season with a tough interstate rivalry game. As was expected, a lot of eyes were on Jadeveon Clowney, the Gamecocks’ Heisman candidate. In particular, college football fans were outraged when it appeared that UNC’s Kiaro Holts took a major cheap shot by cutting Clowney’s legs:

Today, Tar Heels head coach Larry Fedora offered a bit of a flimsy defense for Holts — he said it was “a poor decision,” but indicated there was also “no malicious intent.”

You’ve seen it — was this fair or foul? Not sure if I’m buying Fedora’s response.
