There’s pretty big news coming out of Texas this afternoon — Rivals.com affiliate Orangebloods is reporting that University of Texas athletics director DeLoss Dodds will step down at the end of the year :

However, the Orangeblood report does acknowledge that news of Dodds’ impending retirement has been disputed:

Dodds denied to the Austin American-Statesman this week about having “any immediate plans” to step down as athletic director. And Nick Voinis, senior associate athletics director for communications, vehemently denied Dodds has any plans to step down to Orangebloods.com.

“Whoever is saying that is wrong,” Voinis said.

This would be big news for the Longhorns, and could set the stage for a full-scale regime change at the school — many fans have already been clamoring for football coach Mack Brown’s head.

We’ll keep you updated as we learn more.
