Cortez McDowell is a 4-star safety from Locust Grove, Georgia, and the 22nd-rated safety of 2014 according to Rivals.com. Today, he committed to the University of Tennessee via Twitter:

This is a big pickup for Butch Jones and his staff — it is the Vols’ 20th overall commitment in the class of 2014.

McDowell chose the Volunteers over offers from Alabama, Georgia, Florida State, West Virginia, and Wisconsin, among others.
