SMU will be joining the alternate uniform (well, helmet) parade this Saturday when the Mustangs take on UConn at home. Instead of wearing their traditional red-on-white lids, the players will be donning new white-on-red helmets. The flipped color scheme matches what the Mustangs wore back in the 1960s and 1970s.
It’s a subtle change, but it definitely makes for a much bolder look. Perhaps they’ll wear the helmet with their “retro” blue jerseys – that’d be quite a combo.
The Mustangs take on winless UConn at 3:00 PM ET as they continue to work towards bowl eligibility.
