Oklahoma’s Gabe Ikard On Alabama: “We’re Not Scared Of Them”
Alabama has won three of the past four BCS national championships, and came painfully close to being able to play for yet another this season. But Oklahoma starting lineman Gabe Ikard says he and the rest of the Sooners aren’t scared to play the Tide in the upcoming Sugar Bowl. In fact, he was hoping he’d get a shot at them this year – he just wanted it to be under different circumstances.
Here’s what he told reporters Monday afternoon.
He also added that the game will be a great opportunity for Oklahoma’s players to improve their draft stock. He called it a “money game”.
Ikard is certainly right – playing against Alabama is a great opportunity to show that you have next-level talent. Most people are picking the Tide to win this one, so the Sooners should have some extra motivation. Nick Saban, at this point though, is used to dealing with getting a team’s best shot. We’ll see how it all shakes out in a few weeks.
