Tonight, it was confirmed that freshman star quarterback Baker Mayfield will be transferring away from Texas Tech. Mayfield was just named the Big 12 Freshman of the Year for 2013:
Just spoke with Baker Mayfield, who confirms he will transfer after one season at Texas Tech. He will not play in Holiday Bowl vs. ASU.

Mayfield says he’s transferring due to miscommunication with the Tech coaching staff. He wants a fresh start somewhere else (TBD).

Mayfield started the first five games for the Red Raiders this season but was then removed as a starter following the return of Davis Webb from injury. Mayfield also started the last three regular season games for TTU, and finished the season with a 5-3 starting record.
The Red Raiders will not only be losing a very good quarterback with a very high ceiling, but perhaps the best Dougie skills in the nation .
