It was just two days ago that former Missouri defensive end Michael Sam announced to the world that he is gay. Now, Sam, who will most likely become the first openly gay player in the NFL, will be on the cover of Sports Illustrated. The magazine made the announcement earlier Tuesday on Twitter.
It’s no doubt been a whirlwind of a week for Sam, who is projected as a third-round pick. We’ll find out soon enough if the NFL – the other subject of the cover – is ready for his arrival.
