It appears that the Crimson Tide will be without its leading rusher on Saturday — at least for one quarter. According to the Anniston Star, starting running back T.J. Yeldon will be held out of the first quarter as punishment for his throat-slashing gesture in last week’s game vs. Texas A&M.

Per the Star :

“A source close to the situation said the suspension stems from Yeldon’s unsportsmanlike penalty in the Tide’s 49-42 victory over Texas A&M on a 4-yard touchdown near the end of the second quarter.

An athletics department spokesman declined to confirm or deny any disciplinary action against Yeldon.”

While this certainly would be a loss for Alabama, Tide fans probably shouldn’t be too worried, considering their team is currently a 39-point favorite. Good for Nick Saban for sending the message that sportsmanship matters.

In two games so far this season, Yeldon has 224 rushing yards on 42 carries, and two touchdowns.
