There is no question that the biggest issue the NCAA is facing today centers around the amateurism of its college athletes and whether or not they should be paid. We’ve heard time and time again that players have accepted money during their college playing days, and many fans of the game feel that the NCAA regularly exploits college players while running a multi-billion dollar business.
Today, SI released a video of former Tennessee star Arian Foster, in which he claims he received money on the side during his senior season with the Vols:
“I don’t know if this will throw us into an NCAA investigation — my senior year, I was getting money on the side. I really didn’t have any money. I had to either pay the rent or buy some food. I remember the feeling of like, ‘Man, be careful.’ But there’s nothing wrong with it. And you’re not going to convince me that there is something wrong with it.
There were plenty of times where throughout the month I didn’t have enough for food.”
You can watch Foster talk about receiving money in the clip below — it is a preview of the documentary “Schooled” which will premiere on Epix on October 16th.
