All of a sudden, it seems we have a problem in college basketball regarding the interaction between players, coaches and fans. We saw it a few weeks back during the Marcus Smart incident. We saw it during the botched court-storming just a few days ago with New Mexico State and Utah Valley. Now, tonight, we might be seeing the worst example of all.
After Hawaii coach Gib Arnold was assessed a technical foul during tonight’s game against UC Santa Barbara, a Gauchos fan ran onto the court to confront him. Hawaii’s players had to literally push away the spectator from their coach.
It was a scary situation, for sure, especially after seeing how crazy the fan was acting. Let’s hope this trend stops – immediately.
