Virginia Tech Football made an exciting announcement this afternoon via its Twitter page: true freshman walk-on Sam Rogers has been named the Hokies starting fullback for this upcoming season.

Not too often do you hear of a true freshman getting a starting nod on a BCS team, let alone a walk-on true freshman. Virginia Tech opens its season at Alabama on Saturday, August 31st, at 5:30 on ESPN — talk about getting thrown into the fire.
