Thad Matta After 2nd-Straight OSU Loss: “We’re Too Far From The Finish Line To Panic. I’ve Never Done That, I Won’t Do That”
The Ohio State Buckeyes suffered their second loss of the season this afternoon to Iowa, and their second in as many games after losing to Michigan State on Tuesday. Naturally, the players aren’t happy with themselves, and OSU supporters definitely don’t want to see the team start free-falling in conference play.
Thankfully for Ohio State, head coach Thad Matta isn’t worried one bit. He’s been through the grind of college basketball far too many times to be ready to throw in the towel after a few small bumps in the road to two really talented opponents:
Matta seems to be thinking along the same lines as Kentucky’s John Calipari, who said several days ago that the season is just getting started, and the top teams have plenty of time to round into form. Not to mention, the Buckeyes’ next two games are against Nebraska (which OSU already beat by more than 30 points) and Minnesota — while not complete pushovers, both of those schools are experiencing less success than Iowa and Michigan State this year. Bottom line, it’s a bit too early to be writing off Ohio State for the season — there is a lot of basketball left to be played.
