Vanderbilt Head Coach Derek Mason: “SEC East Title, Here We Come. Make No Bones About It”
Yesterday, Vanderbilt announced the hiring of Stanford’s Derek Mason as the new head football coach of the Commodores, replacing the recently-departed James Franklin. Today, Mason met with the media for the first time in his new role, and he made one thing abundantly clear: he has huge expectations for the program. He expects his team to compete for SEC East titles right away, and the sky is the limit after that:
Vanderbilt earned nine wins in each of the past two seasons, good for the greatest two-season win total in school history. If Mason can pick up right where Franklin left off, Mason might be right: the rest of the SEC East will have to look out.
