Clemson Coach Dabo Swinney Compares Today To 2009: “We Couldn’t Get Anyone To Come But Our Wives”
Clemson coach Dabo Swinney, who has led the Tigers to a 51-23 overall record, three straight double-digit win seasons and an Orange Bowl victory, wants his recruits, players and fans to remember how far the program has come in the past five years – so much so that he brought his notes from the 2009 class to show everyone during National Signing Day. According to Aaron Brenner of the Charleston Post & Courier, it was just one sheet of paper – clearly signifying that things are a little more intense now.
For the record, Clemson’s 2014 class is ranked at No. 12 right now by Rivals. He also dropped a great quote about the difference in attendance.
Swinney has done a tremendous job putting Clemson back on the map – before he took over, the Tigers hadn’t won 10 games in a season since 1990. While many other coaches around the country claim their programs are on the way up, Swinney can actually prove it – apparently with just one sheet of paper.
