Sometimes in basketball, a player makes a bucket so difficult after a whistle or after the buzzer that you just shake your head and think “Wow, that should have counted.” Last night, at an Sebring, Ohio basketball game, players for McKinley High found themselves wishing that an insane hoop would’ve been left on the scoreboard.
McKinley was tied with Western Reserve, 63-63, with two-tenths of a second left on the clock, with Western having a pair of free throws to go for the win. The first went down, but after an intentional miss on the second, a Sebring player, Dylan Mick, fired up a full-courter that found its mark — cash money. The shot was definitely released before the buzzer sounded, as the clock operator was late on the start, but the refs eventually ruled the bucket off because, by rule, at least three-tenths of a second must remain for a player to gain control and then shoot (as opposed to a tip-in).
