Earlier today, the University of Southern California hired Steve Sarkisian to be its new head football coach. This obviously meant that the school decided not to give the job to Ed Orgeron, who has gone 6-2 as interim head coach following the firing of Lane Kiffin. Orgeron was apparently “outraged” at the decision and resigned from his job, meaning he will not coach the Trojans in their bowl game.
This afternoon, Orgeron met with the team to announce his decision. It was apparently pretty emotional:
After the meeting, Orgeron released a tweet indicating that he will be fine moving forward, and still loves Trojan Nation:
After his success this season, Orgeron will likely have no problem finding a role within another program.
