Video: James Michael McAdoo’s Massive Block Sums Up What UNC Did To No. 1 Michigan State Tonight
Every March, there are a handful of NCAA tournament resumes that make you scratch your head. North Carolina has only played seven games so far this year, but it’s already clear that the Tar Heels have one of the most confusing sets of results in the country. They’ve lost to Belmont and UAB, yet they’ve beaten then-No. 3 Louisville and now, No. 1 Michigan State.
The Spartans were out-rebounded, 49-38, turned the ball over 14 times and shot just 36% on the night. North Carolina, on the other hand, had five players in doubles figures in scoring and seemed oddly comfortable on the road in East Lansing. James Michael McAdoo’s block in the final minute of the contest summed up what UNC was able to do to MSU all night.
The loss will almost certainly drop the Spartans from their No. 1 ranking, and so long as Arizona defeats UNLV later this week, it looks like the Wildcats could take over the throne. UNC’s victory also preserved a 6-6 tie in the ACC-Big Ten Challenge.
