It’s always great to see college athletes give back to their community — players across the country are idolized by fans, and setting a good example for those who look up to them is something to be admired. The North Carolina Tar Heels basketball team understands the platform it is on, and each year the players go on a shopping spree at the Salvation Army to purchase holiday gifts for underprivileged children through the store’s Angel Tree program.


It is very fun to watch the players pick out their gifts — unsurprisingly, 20-year-old males have a difficult time shopping for little girls. But they take the challenge on and really look for special gifts that will put a smile on the faces of kids. Here is a pretty nice video done by UNC Athletics that shows the team shopping for presents, and talking about the importance of giving back:
