Josh Poloha - Ohio State

It’s Monday of the first “game week” of 2013, and fans have been going nuts at the release of official depth charts and injury reports. There was a big spot up for grabs in the Louisville backfield, and today we got a bit of resolution — head Coach Charlie Strong has named Senorise Perry the Cardinals’ starting running back for their opening game this weekend.

Perry and Auburn transfer Michael Dyer were fighting for the lead spot before Strong named the starter this afternoon. Perry was the second-leading rusher on last year’s team with 705 yards and led the team in touchdowns with 11. He is bouncing back from a season-ending right anterior cruciate ligament tear he suffered November 10th at Syracuse.

Dyer is the former Auburn Tiger who took part in the National Championship Game a few years ago.

The Cardinals open their season this Sunday vs. Ohio University at 3:30 on ESPN2.
