A.J. McCarron Says Alabama Felt Disrespected By Tennessee Calling It “The Red Team”
This past week, Tennessee’s coaching staff and players made sure to refer to the Crimson Tide as “the red team” during practice and interviews – the theory was that the name “Alabama” struck fear into the hearts of their opponents, and the Vols wanted to make sure that everyone realized that it was just another game on the schedule. Well, apparently Tide quarterback A.J. McCarron and his teammates weren’t thrilled to hear the news. Check out what he told CBS’ Tracy Wolfson after today’s 45-10 beatdown.
To be fair, you can’t really blame Tennessee for refusing to be intimidated in a big rivalry game. But as the Vols soon found out, there’s a reason opponents fear the Tide – they’re really, really good.
