Video: Whistle From The Stands Causes Mass Confusion In Miami vs. Wake Forest Game
Home field advantage nearly took on a new meaning in today’s Miami (FL) vs. Wake Forest game. On 4th-and-7 with 9:51 remaining in the fourth quarter of a 14-10 game, Wake Forest kicker Alexander Kinal was set to punt of his own end zone when a whistle seemingly blew the play dead. Except the whistle didn’t actually come from the refs – it came from the stands. It sounded so authentic that players on both teams just stopped.
The officials, to their credit, did the right thing and replayed the down. It would be have one of the most unfair safeties of all-time otherwise.
