AJ McCarron Said He Talked To Alex Rodriguez On The Phone Before The Iron Bowl
Two weeks ago, AJ McCarron and Alabama lost to Auburn in the Iron Bowl — as good as the Tigers are this year, it was a big surprise, because losses haven’t come too frequently for the Crimson Tide over the past few seasons. Today, McCarron reflected on the Iron Bowl a bit, and actually mentioned that he got a chance to speak to Alex Rodriguez before the game:
Naturally, fans had a field day once they found this out — A-Rod isn’t exactly held in the highest esteem right now by many. He also was famously nicknamed “The Cooler” by Joe Torre for his ability to “cool down” when joining a new team. The thought is that he may have given AJ McCarron and the Tide the kiss of death:
We’ll never know if A-Rod brought bad luck to Alabama before the Iron Bowl, but it’s pretty interesting to hear that McCarron and Rodriguez were talking before the game. Fans don’t seem to think that it was a good thing.
