A week ago, it was announced that Texas Tech’s star freshman quarterback Baker Mayfield would be transferring away from the Red Raiders program. Today, we are getting an idea where he may end up, and it might surprise you: Oklahoma. Per Danny Davis of the Austin-American Statesman:
It seems odd that he would transfer to another Big 12 school, but it’s even more peculiar that he would do so to be a walk-on. Considering his freshman success, he could likely get a scholarship from many different schools across the country. Also, it is unclear on what grounds he is planning to challenge the NCAA’s transfer restrictions.
Mayfield was named the Big 12′s Freshman Of The Year for 2013. He passed for over 2300 yards and 12 touchdowns in eight starts, in which he racked up a 5-3 record.
