Charlie Strong Doesn’t Think Louisville Ever Had A Chance At The BCS Title Game Because Of Its Schedule
Whatever minuscule chance Louisville ever had at qualifying for the 2014 BCS National Championship Game was all but vanquished when the Cardinals lost to unranked UCF this past Friday, 38-35. But according to Louisville coach Charlie Strong, the team never had a shot in the first place because of its weak schedule. Via The Courier-Journal‘s Steve Jones:
Is Strong right? Most likely – the Cardinals’ AAC schedule is weak in the first place, and the school didn’t schedule any marquee non-conference matchups either. But it’s a weird quote, because he’s essentially insinuating that it was BCS NCG or bust this year – even though the Cardinals still have a ton to play for. Remember, the AAC conference champion gets an automatic BCS bowl game bid.
