Earlier today, the BYU Cougars unveiled new uniforms ahead of the 2013 season. The major change? The players won’t be wearing their names on the back of the jerseys – they’ll each instead wear one of three words – tradition, honor, or spirit.
While the move is clearly meant to draw the team closer together, some of the players are a bit miffed on the change. Kyle Van Noy, a senior linebacker, summed up his feelings:
“Well, it was different. I have always been a part of having my last name on the back of my jersey, and I think I’m going to miss it.”

It seems as if the players were blindsided. Should the coaching staff have let the team know before it was made public?
