On Monday, the United States Government shut down due to a disagreement within the house regarding the passing a bill on government spending. Unfortunately, the shutdown has leaked into the world of college sports. All intercollegiate athletic competitions — practices or games — involving the service academies have been suspended:
Most notably, football will be suspended, including this weekend’s games between Air Force-Navy and Army-Boston College. The cancellation of more games could be on the horizon.
Unfortunately, this also can significantly affect other schools as well such as Notre Dame, which faces both Army and Navy in the coming weeks:
In short, the government is no fun, and we hope things get resolved quickly. Messing with our sports is going too far.
