Earlier: Yesterday, the Department of Defense announced that all collegiate athletic events were temporarily suspended due to the government shutdown. This left the Air Force-Navy (as well as Army-Boston College) game up in the air — nobody knew if it was actually going to be played as scheduled. Today, United Airlines suggested a potential solution to the problem as it offered to fly the Air Force football team to Annapolis for the game on Saturday:
The status of the game is still in doubt but it’s a nice gesture by the airline to try and keep everything running smoothly.
