Johnny Manziel likes to party just like every other college kid. Sure, he probably shouldn’t get caught smoking or drinking underage , but it appears that he isn’t too bothered by what others think of him.
At SEC Media Days last week, he told everyone over and over again that he was going to enjoy college like a 20-year old, and that none of his off-field drama would affect his football performance.
Today, he took to Twitter to stick it to his doubters:
I stand somewhere in the middle on this. On one hand, Johnny does have a point — he did win a lot of games in the SEC last year, and claimed the Heisman Trophy in his first season of play (although didn’t win a championship) — both impressive feats. However, at some point these incidents, particularly drug and alcohol related ones, could affect his on-field performance, or availability if his coach decides to take action.
I like Johnny — he’s a very charismatic guy and he’s a treat to watch on the football field. I just wish he would keep his head down a little more and focus solid on what he says matters — double-digit win columns and championships.
