Five ranked teams lost this past weekend, but none of them were in the top-14 of the polls. So while the polls are experiencing some shake-up this week, it isn’t occurring anywhere near the top — the nation’s elite are proving themselves again and again.

Virginia Tech re-entered the rankings this week — the Hokies have quietly won five straight after suffering a loss to Alabama the first week of the season. Also climbing in is Northern Illinois, which is now 5-0 after beating Kent State this weekend.
