Denver Broncos Safety Mike Adams is one of a number of players in this year’s Super Bowl who are New Jersey natives, and he has a very interesting home state-celebration planned if Denver wins next week’s Super Bowl against the Seattle Seahawks:
“If we win the Super Bowl, I’m going to keep my helmet and pads on and I’m walking home.”
Adams, who grew up in Paterson, New Jersey, a city just 12 miles from MetLife Stadium, went into detail about his plans, and his upbringing, in The Denver Post :
“It can be almost like a cancer,” said Adams, describing his hometown. “And I say that because the negativity in that place can be like a snowball rolling downhill.”
Adams says that people used to tell him that he’d never be able to leave Paterson, as is the case for many other young men from the city, so this walk home can help serve as inspiration for others in his position, and to prove that people who work hard can make better lives for themselves.
While his experiences in New Jersey may not have always been easy, it sounds like Adams is excited to play the biggest game of his life in his home state:
