New AP Poll Released: Oregon, Baylor Plummet After Dreadful Performances

Lee Corso called it.
Ohio State was once considered a long shot to have a chance at playing for the BCS national championship. Now, it’s become a real possibility.
With Baylor’s ugly loss to Oklahoma State, the Buckeyes no longer have to worry about any teams catching them from behind in the BCS standings – they just have to hope that one of the two in front of them loses. Alabama still has to take on Auburn in the Iron Bowl, and if the Tide wins, it has to then take on whichever team represents the SEC East in the conference title game (probably Mizzou). Florida State seemingly has a much easier road, getting hapless Florida and most likely Duke in the ACC title game.
Alabama and Florida State remain 1-2 in the AP Poll, with Ohio State replacing the Bears as the third ranked team in the nation. Baylor and Oregon, which put up dreadful performances, dropped to No. 9 and No. 12, respectively. Auburn and Oklahoma State were the biggest beneficiaries of this weekend’s action – the Tigers find themselves at No. 4 while the Cowboys have moved up to No. 7.
Here’s the entire poll, which has just been released.
