We’ve seen some incredible halftime performances by bands across the country this year at college football games — recent shows by Clemson and Ohio State come to mind as being particularly impressive. Today, the Band of the Fighting Irish might have topped them all — at halftime of this afternoon’s Senior Day game vs. BYU, the band members put on a football showcase of their own.
In 1913, Notre Dame popularized the forward pass in football with a pass from Gus Dorais to the great Knute Rockne in a shocking upset of Army. To celebrate the 100th anniversary of the forward pass at Notre Dame, the band reenacted the play with band members forming giant figures of Dorais and Rockne. Simply put, it was awesome:
Check out the zip on that pass.
Thanks to the Notre Dame Monogram Club for the video, and Josh Flynt for the heads up.
