Notre Dame fans received some bittersweet news tonight — star defensive lineman Stephon Tuitt is headed to the NFL Draft in May, per Sports Illustrated‘s Brian Hamilton:
Tuitt has has helped to form a dominant defense line for Notre Dame the past several seasons, primarily lining up next to defensive tackle Louis Nix III, who has already declared for the NFL Draft as well. Both players are currently projected to go in the first round of the draft.
While it will be nice for Irish fans to see their former stars represent the school in the pros, replacing two prominent figures on the defensive line will be a challenge for a defense that just lost its coordinator , Bob Diaco, to UConn.
