The game of the week is currently under way in Tallahassee, as the Florida State Seminoles lead Miami 21-7 in the second quarter. Miami fans thought that they were just about to tie things up on the last drive (when it was still 14-7) as Duke Johnson appeared to break free headed toward the endzone — unfortunately for the Hurricanes, the referees had already blown the play dead:

When Johnson originally ran to the right, he got stacked up a bit by the Miami defense. He kept his legs churning and completely reversed field before breaking out on the left side of the play. It’s hard to tell when the original whistle blows the play dead (Timmy Jernigan of FSU had a shot at Johnson in the backfield but may have let up a bit), but Miami fans certainly felt that Duke Johnson was about to do something special.

Did the refs blow this one dead a little too early, or was it a good call as Johnson gave up his forward momentum?
